Dance has been part of human life since prehistoric times — as vital as eating or sleeping in many early cultures. It has long served as a way to express emotion, connect with others, communicate ideas, and support healing.

Today, dance/movement therapy (DMT) continues that legacy, offering a holistic approach that goes beyond physical movement. DMT engages the sensory, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual dimensions of experience — using the body as both medium and message. Unlike traditional talk therapies, DMT works primarily on a non-verbal and creative level, recognizing that body and mind are in constant dialogue.

DMT can take many forms: individual or group sessions, with or without music, highly expressive or blended with verbal psychotherapy. Therapists may incorporate props, other art forms, or psychodrama — the possibilities are endless.
